Invitation Wording Help

Coming up with the right wording isn’t always easy, here are some suggestions, hints & tips on how to get the perfect wording for your invites!

Some Tid Bits of Information

Who’s hosting the wedding

Whoever is ‘hosting’ the wedding is the one inviting the guests. Traditionally, this is the bride’s parents, but in more modern times, it’s either a blended effort between the two joining families or completely funded by the couple.

Names

Traditionally, until you are married, the bride’s name
comes before the groom’s. But when it comes to two brides or grooms, whoever was proposed to comes first!

Accessory Cards

Accessory cards contain all the additional information you need to tell your guests without over-crowding your wedding invitations. Especially when you have to convey information about accommodation, gifts, transport, before & after events etc. You can also put this information on the backs of your invitations if you wanted to!

The Invitations

Traditional invitations will often use wording such as

‘request the pleasure of your company…’.

whereas the more modern and relaxed invitations will often use wording such as

‘Join us to celebrate….’

or we’ve even seen some more personalised ones such as

‘Because you have shared in our lives with your friendship and love, we invite you to join us to celebrate the marriage of’

Extra Details

If you’re trying to keep your costs low, the most effective way to bring your costs down is to remove all additional cards that you could get (even though they’re really cute) and either put the information on the bottom of the invitation or refer the guests to an external website where they can access the abundance of information.

Wishing Well

There are so many ways to tell people about your wishing well, here are some of our popular ones!

Wording 1

If you were thinking of giving a gift, to help us on our way. A gift of cash towards our honeymoon, would really make our day.

However, if you prefer to purchase a gift, feel free to surprise us in your own special way.

Wording 2

While wedding presents are so nice,
your attendance will certainly suffice.

But if you wish to give as well,
you can donate to our wishing well.

Wording 3

If finding a gift is hard to do
our wishing well is just for you!

A gift of money is placed in the well,
then make a wish but do not tell!

If it is however a gift you find,
please feel assured we will not mind.

Wording 4

The wishing well is your chance to make our dreams come true! If you’d like to contribute to our future adventures, a wishing well will be available at the reception. No pressure, just pure love and appreciation.

No Children

Telling people that they can’t bring their children is always tricky – so here are a few tried & tested sayings that are sure to do the trick!

Wording 1

As much as we wish we could have everyone a part of our wedding day, please note we are only able to include children of our immediate family. We hope that you will understand this decision and we very much hope you will still be able to join us on our special day.

Wording 2

With respect, we would like our special day to be an adult only occasion.

Wording 3

We would love to give all our guests the opportunity to let their hair down and have a good time without having to worry about little eyes and ears so we politely request no children.

Wording 4

Children at the ceremony, we’d love them on the scene. Reception time, however, is an adult’s only theme

Covid Wording
